OUR CLUSTER IN NUMBERS
OUR CLUSTER
We are a diverse group of family farms who, with help and support from a variety of advisors, research specialists, agencies and individuals are continuing to learn and develop our management practices to enhance and connect biodiversity and natural habitats throughout our group.


Together we manage over 11,000ha of land and grazing Commons including 8 Special Sites of Scientific Interest (SSSIs).
We manage high numbers of traditional hay meadows - species-rich grasslands (both meadows and pastures), calcareous and mesotrophic grasslands.
Our area includes many lime-rich flushes and fens and Sunbiggin Tarn, one of only 4 national Marl lakes.
In addition, it includes the limestone pavement of Orton Scar, the headwaters of the River Lune and significant areas of upland peat.
